The Fabric of We
July 10 – August 10, 2026
Betty Meyer Gallery, Newton, Massachusetts
TAG | The Art Gallery is pleased to present The Fabric of We, a group exhibition featuring artists from the TAG community, on view at the Betty Meyer Gallery in Newton from July 10 through August 10, 2026.
As TAG continues to expand beyond its Boston home, The Fabric of We reflects the organization’s commitment to bringing art closer to communities, creating new opportunities for artists, and making contemporary art more accessible, visible, and democratic. Through partnerships with galleries and organizations throughout the region, TAG is extending its reach and fostering meaningful connections between artists and audiences across Greater Boston.
Inspired by the opening words of the United States Constitution, The Fabric of We invites reflection on one of the most enduring and evolving ideas in American society: “We the People.” More than a historical phrase, it is a living question—one that asks who belongs, what connects us, and how individual experiences contribute to a collective identity.
Like a woven textile, society is formed from countless threads—distinct yet interconnected, fragile yet resilient. This exhibition explores the relationships that bind us to one another through themes of belonging, identity, memory, place, family, culture, diversity, and community.
The artists in The Fabric of We offer a wide range of perspectives and interpretations, drawing from personal narratives, cultural traditions, social landscapes, and abstract explorations of connection. Together, their works examine how individual voices contribute to a larger social tapestry and how shared experiences can create understanding across differences.
At a time when divisions often dominate public discourse, The Fabric of We celebrates the richness that emerges when diverse stories come together. Through painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, fiber, and other contemporary practices, the exhibition reminds us that our shared humanity is not found in sameness, but in the complex and beautiful weave of our collective experience.
Founded on the belief that art should be accessible to all, TAG continues to create opportunities for artists to engage with new audiences beyond traditional gallery boundaries. The Fabric of We is both an exhibition and an invitation—to reflect on our connections, recognize our interdependence, and consider the many ways we contribute to the communities we inhabit.
