TAG | The Art Gallery Presents Caroline Grossman’s Solo Exhibition 

Yes Dad, I’m Doing Art! 

A poignant exploration of healing, memory, advocacy, and the transformative power of creativity 

BOSTON, MA — TAG | The Art Gallery is pleased to present Yes Dad, I’m Doing Art!, a solo exhibition by Caroline Grossman, on view September 4–27, 2026. An Opening Reception will be held on Friday, September 4, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, inviting the public to meet the artist and experience a deeply personal body of work that celebrates resilience, family, and the profound role art can play in our lives. 

Part memoir, part social commentary, and part public health advocacy, Yes Dad, I’m Doing Art! traces Grossman’s artistic journey through the enduring influence of her parents and the transformative power of creativity. The exhibition is inspired by conversations with her late father, whose persistent question, “You doing any art?” became both a challenge and an invitation that ultimately changed the course of her life. What began as an act of love became an essential practice of healing and self-discovery. 

Drawing from family photographs, memories, heirlooms, documents, and personal experiences, Grossman’s work explores themes of aging, illness, caregiving, memory, identity, immigration, and human connection. The exhibition also reflects the artist’s belief that art is more than personal expression, it is a powerful vehicle for public engagement, compassion, and social change. 

The influence of both parents resonates throughout the exhibition. Grossman’s father, Lawrence K. Grossman, a longtime media theorist and former president of PBS and NBC News, introduced her to the idea that visual communication could advance causes and inspire action. Her mother, Alberta N. Grossman, a lifelong educator, civil rights advocate, and champion of storytelling, instilled the importance of finding one’s own voice. Together, their legacies form the emotional foundation of this exhibition, which the artist describes as a heartfelt tribute to their unwavering encouragement and belief in her creative path. 

As part of the exhibition’s mission, Grossman hopes to raise awareness and support for two organizations that have had a meaningful impact on her community: The Waltham Times and Charles River Community Health. By connecting personal narrative with broader social

issues, the exhibition demonstrates how art can foster empathy, encourage dialogue, and strengthen communities.
