FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Echoes of Liberty
July 3 – August 1, 2026
TAG | The Art Gallery, Boston, MA
TAG Art Gallery is pleased to present Echoes of Liberty, a group exhibition featuring contemporary artists exploring the enduring and evolving meaning of freedom. On view from July 3 through August 1, 2026, the exhibition invites viewers to consider how the idea of liberty resonates across personal experience, collective memory, identity, and imagination.
Presented in recognition of the anniversary of one of the foundational documents of American democracy, Echoes of Liberty moves beyond political discourse to examine freedom as a lived and multifaceted experience. Liberty is not a fixed concept but one that continues to evolve across generations, cultures, and communities. It can be found in acts of courage and self-expression, in the pursuit of justice and belonging, and in the freedom to imagine, create, and become.
The exhibition brings together diverse artistic perspectives that reflect on the many ways liberty echoes through our lives. Through painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, fiber, and other contemporary practices, participating artists explore questions that remain as relevant today as ever: How do we experience freedom? Where do we find it, protect it, challenge it, or celebrate it? What does liberty look like in a rapidly changing world?
Artists interpret the theme through a wide range of approaches, from intimate personal narratives to broader reflections on community, culture, and shared experience. Some works examine resilience, identity, and self-determination,
while others consider the freedoms found in creativity, memory, movement, and human connection. Together, the exhibition reveals that liberty is both deeply personal and universally shared.
In the spirit of the phrase “We the People,” Echoes of Liberty celebrates the richness of individual expression and the power of art to foster dialogue, reflection, and understanding. By bringing together many voices and perspectives, the exhibition reminds us that freedom is not only an ideal to be
preserved but also a conversation that continues to shape who we are and who we aspire to become.
As part of TAG’s mission to create meaningful opportunities for artists and engage diverse audiences through contemporary art, Echoes of Liberty invites visitors to reflect on the values that connect us and the many forms that freedom can take.
